God's Word: Week 3 - Devotion 1

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” - 1 Corinthians 15:3

For many years early man believed that the Earth was the center of our Solar System. There is a great debate as to when it was discovered, but we now know that the Sun is the center of our Solar System. All the planets revolve around the Sun and without its heat, this Earth would not exist. If we were going to rank important things in the survival of life on Earth, the Sun would have to be at number one.

So what is most important in our lives as believers?

What is at the center of our lives? The Apostle Paul said that knowing Christ died for our sins is most important. But look at what he added at the end of that verse: JUST AS THE SCRIPTURES SAID. It is pretty clear the Scripture or God’s Word should be at the center of our lives as followers of Christ. We should know it, read it, study it, and live it out.

Here are some thoughts to ponder about God’s Word in your life:

·     Do you have a plan for reading the Bible?

·     Do the truths of the Bible really guide your life?

·     What keeps the Bible from being important to you and how can you change that?

·     Think of one truth from the Bible that you can work on living out in your life this week, like to love others as yourself, or to help out the least of these, etc.
