Service: Week 2 - Devotion 2
“Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.” - 1 John 2:6
It’s easy to claim to be a Christian. Many people do. Their lives may not reflect it, but many think they’re Christians for any number of reasons: because they go to church; because their parents are Christians; because they own a Bible; or maybe because they have friends who are Christians.
The Bible has different criteria. Read 1 John 2:6. What kind of life is reflecting a true follower of Christ? Walking as Jesus did. This doesn't mean you wear sandals and a robe and ride a donkey. No, you must follow Jesus' example and do as He did.
One of the reasons Jesus came to earth was to be an example for us to follow. He lived His life to demonstrate how we should respond and behave. One of the things Jesus did constantly was serve others. He always looked for ways to love others and to help those in need. If we claim to be a Christ-follower, we need to do the same as He did.
Think about this:
Before you can follow Jesus’ example, you need to know what He did. Do you know how Jesus’ lived? If not, the challenge is for you to set some time apart to read the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and see what Jesus really did.
Do you really “Walk as Jesus did?” Where does your path deviate? How can you find a way back?
