Spiritual Gifts: Week 2 - Devotion 2

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” - John 14:26

When was the last time you went to someone for guidance in making a decision? Maybe it was as simple as deciding where to eat for lunch. Or maybe it was as complex as where to go to college. Either way, we all have people in our lives we go to for advice. If we’re a Christ-follower, we have access to One whose guidance is perfectly perfect. And yet, how often do we rely on Him?

Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as a “Counselor.” A counselor is someone who gives guidance or advice. Now, the Holy Spirit is probably the wrong choice to ask about lunch plans. But, for guidance in all matters spiritual, the Holy Spirit is your go-to source for solid guidance.

Think about the gifts you’ve been given by the Spirit. Think about your passions and your talents. Now, spend a few moments reflecting on how you can begin to use those talents to serve your church.

And here’s a fun thought: Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you think about how to serve God best.
