Service: Week 3 - Devotion 1
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’” - Matthew 25:37-40
Have you ever done something and not even realized you’ve done it? For too many of us, we do things that are stupid or hurt others without even knowing we did it. Maybe we said something that hurt someone’s feelings. Or we were caught up in our own thoughts and were unintentionally rude. We’ve all been there.
Read Matthew 25:34-46. In Matthew 25, we see the opposite side of this. We are here at the final judgment, and Jesus is telling people they have done these great things for Him. And the people had no idea they'd done it! They had no idea what Jesus was talking about.
These people had served Jesus without even knowing they’d done it. We need to do the same thing. Our lives need to be so centered on others that we show love to others without even realizing we’ve done it.
Think about this:
How much would you have to love others before you begin to serve without realizing it? How can you reach that point in your life?
