Service: Week 3 - Devotion 3

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:16

In our modern times with the ability to turn on a light with a switch, it can be easy to overlook the value of light. That is until you have a power outage at night. Finding furniture with your toes will bring about a quick reminder of how valuable light truly is!

Read Matthew 5:16. As Christians, we should be shining light into a dark world. People should see our good deeds and worship God. We should be so bright that people can’t help but see how awesome our God is.

The sad truth is that many Christians have hidden their light. We've had a power outage, and the world has been pitched back into darkness.

Jesus wants us to shine our light into the world. This means we serve others and show them God’s love. We bring Jesus into a dark world that needs the light.

Think about this:

  1. Are you shining a light or hiding it?

  2. What dark corners of the world do you have an opportunity to shine a light to?

  3. What can you do to shine the light on them?
