Prayer: Week 1 - Devotion 1
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” - Psalm 1:3
What is your favorite movie to talk about with your friends? People love to share movie quotes, don't they? If you've ever been in a circle of friends who all love a certain movie and quote it all the time, you learn pretty quickly the important quotes to share. In fact, you may go home and watch the movie again just to make sure you know what everyone's talking about. I bet you didn't realize it, but memorizing these quotes actually shapes you and your worldview.
In your Bible study time this week, you may have talked about how a friendship with God will actually begin to transform you into His likeness. With that in mind, spend a couple of minutes and read Psalm 1.
What are some scriptures that you meditate on? God's word is the Christ-followers "movie" of choice. It is the quotes that God uses to mold and shape us. But what is even more amazing is that God's Word has the power to transform us, to build us up and make us strong, and to grow good fruit
Think about this:
Are there quotes and ideas that you think about, or meditate on, that may be harming your friendship with God?
How can you plant yourself by the stream of God’s water? Where can you make time to connect with God today?
How have you seen God grow good fruit in your life? When are the times you have seen the most growth?
