Stewardship: Week 2 - Devotion 1
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” - John 15:12-13
Jesus was giving a small glimpse into the future in today's passage because He was going to be the person to lay down His life not only for His friends but for all humankind. Even though He was the Son of God, the price He would pay would not be easy. The walk to the cross was grueling, and His death was long and painful. Despite all of this the Bible says that Jesus gave up His life willingly. That's why Jesus is the perfect model of stewardship; He gave His all so you could be saved.
SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO ME?
You have abundant life and life eternal thanks to Jesus sacrifice on the cross. He took your place and died for your sins. He laid down His life for you because He considers you His friend.
SO WHAT DO I DO?
God doesn't want you to die on a cross and chances are you will never have to die for your faith, but He does want you to give Him your life.
Put your life in God’s hands and trust Him to use you to bring people to the Kingdom of God.
